Emerging report indicates that 16 Almajiris have tested positive for COVID-19 in Kaduna State.

According to a statement from Dr. Amina Mohammed-Baloni, State Commissioner of Health, the victims were Almajiris who returned to the state from Kano.
Recall that five of the Almajiris had earlier tested positive for the virus a few days after evacuation from Kano State.

The Commissioner added that their test results returned positive from a sample of 40 people whose test results were released on April 30.

Dr. Mohammed-Baloni stressed that the high figure of positive cases with travel history from outside Kaduna has confirmed the government’s concern about the danger of infection from neighbouring states.
The commissioner noted that health officials were monitoring suspected cases said to have sneaked into the state amid the ban on interstate travel.
This brings to 25, the total number of active COVID-19 cases in the state.
Nigeria has 1728 COVID-19 cases, 51 deaths while 307 persons have been discharged.
Worldwide, the number of confirmed infections stood at more than 3 million people, with some 1,008,029 recoveries.
More than 228,513 people have died, according to a tally by the Johns Hopkins University.
