The Former Chairman of Kaduna North Local Government Area, Honourable Usman Ibrahim has declared his intention to vie for the seat of Kaduna Central Senate District under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, his interest is informed by his desire to serve the people and make a difference based on his experienced as a one-time Special Adviser and Council boss.
In chat with journalists, when he paid an unscheduled visit to Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Secretariat on Monday, Alhaji Usman said though he was initially reluctant, the pressure and frequent calls from members of his constituency to contest compelled him to consider the invitation to vie.
According to him , perhaps the groups, individuals and members of the Kaduna North Central constituency that have mounted the pressure for contest must have considered the exemplary leadership, philanthropic gestures and humble disposition during days as Caretaker Chairman of Kaduna North Local government area .
Honourable Usman Ibrahim explained that the Senate is a place, where you need a vibrant, intelligent, experienced administrator, who can initiate and sponsor bills that will help bridge the gap of poverty and development.
He informed that the 2019 election is going to be tough in terms of competitive contests, but will be recognized as one of the most peaceful and fairest election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).
“This is so, because President Muhammed Buhari has been able to set up a system that is capable of producing a peaceful and acceptable election results.
“Anambra governorship election is an example of the kind of election to expect in 2019. Buhari has demonstrated that whoever is popular can win election.
“And let me assure all contestants irrespective of party affiliation that President Buhari is committed to ensuring a level playing ground for all inasmuch as such contestant is credible and popular.
“It is against this background that I joined the race to vie for the Senate as a prospective aspirant that can represent the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial zone” he stressed.
On how he would win Kaduna Central Senate District, the former Kaduna North Chairman explained that politics is a game of number, popularity, contribution to the society and representation, then he can comfortable say God has handed over power to him.
He however, urged the electorate within the Kaduna North Central Senatorial zone to consider his antecedents as a former Council boss and as a successful businessman and give the chance to represent them in the Senate, come 2019.
“I want people to know that my background as a Muslim has empowered me to also understand that it is only God that gives power.” He ended.
