Alarming Rate of Drugs: NDLEA Yells on Rampant Drug Peddlers in Kaduna

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kaduna State Command has alleged that in every five household, there is the tendency of having a drug peddler due to the alarming rate of drug abuse especially among the youth who constituted the population of the state.

The State Commander of NDLEA, Mr. Samuel Azige stated this during a stakeholders meeting at the Kaduna Polytechnic organized by Nigas Rehabilitation and Skills Acquisition Training Centre, saying curbing or fighting drug abuse in the society is the responsibility of Nigerians.

Represented by an Officials of the Agency, Mr. Samuel Magaji, the State Commander while congratulating the Chief Executive Officer of Nigas’ Rehabilitation and Skills Acquisition Training Center, Mallam Lawal Maduru on his laudable achievements informed that Mallam Maduru put his personal efforts in curbing the menace of drug abuse in the society.

“In the whole of Kaduna State, it is only Mallam Niga that knows the implication of drug abuse in the society.

“Niga has seeing the problem of drug abuse in the society and he had made a move towards solving the problem. The government does not know the problem of drug abuse like Niga did” Magaji said.

Earlier, the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Nigas Rehabilitation and Skill Acquisition Training Centre, Colonel Waziri Abdul said Nigas Rehabilitation Centre is a Non-Governmental Organization that seeks an approach to drugs problems which emphasizes the importance of prevention recovery and focusing on treatment, rehabilitation and social cohesion.

The Board of Trustees chairman explained further that “the organization have been actively involved in campaign to mobilize support for drugs control and raising awareness on the major problems that illicit drugs present to society.

“We also specialize in implementing drugs use prevention, interventions providing drug depended treatment and care services that touch the life’s of all affected person.

“The centre also provides education through functional literacy preventive and corrective response to violence for security realizing the agenda for peace and say no to drugs” He stressed.
