A Non-Governmental Organization- Africa Media Development Foundation (AMDF) in collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council has unveiled an App called “ScoopNews” for the use by Kaduna-based journalists.
The Co-ordinator, of AMDF, Mrs. Sekyen Dadik while officially unveiling the App at the NUJ Kaduna Council Secretariat on Tuesday said journalism is revolving and involving with the emergency of internet, now used to break news by everybody, hence the need for the inventing of the App.
According to her, through the App, the journalists will be able to share their news stories and vital information to the public to counter fake news flying everywhere and coming up and parading themselves as journalists.
The Co-oredinator also informed that the App will give Foundation the opportunity to get more information on such news and send by the Kaduna journalists and report it better by using the story to dig deeper to know more about it which will benefit the public.
“We are here to unveil the App and we brought it at the door step of NUJ because we felt, you are the primary target for the ScoopNews before taking it to the public and civil society organization.
“The idea is in providing professional support for journalists and ensuring that their capacity are effectively enhanced” she added.
In his remark, the UNJ State Council Chairman, Comrade Adamu Yusuf said “I am happy to be among the participant of the unveiling of ScoopNews App.
He was of the opinion that the App is the first of its kind not only for Kaduna State but on the Northern part of the country and that it is a plus to the journalists in Kaduna Council.
The App is the first of its kind not only in Kaduna but in the Northern part of Nigeria.
The Chairman therefor advise and called on all the journalists particularly the Online that they should utilized the ScoopNews positively for the development of our profession, our State and our dear Country, Nigeria while extoled the developers of the APP for their ingenuity and foresight of the innovation.
Introducing the App, Mr Stanley Odior of Nextmerge said NextMerge is a conjunction of IT Firm in Kaduna, pointing out that Sccopnews APP was developed since 2016 but they have been developing it to improve upon its earlier state.
He described Scoopnews as a device and user friendly App.
