President of the United Church of Christ in Nations (HEKAN), Reverend Amos Kiri has charge young members of the church to be enthusiastic to taste for word of God as such will help them return spiritually loaded.
Reverend Kiri who gave the charge at the opening ceremony of the 2018 HEKAN National Children Sunday School Camp with the slogan “Catch them young” also enjoined the children not to give room for the devil to distract, confuse and steal their joy.
He called on the children at the convention to avail themselves to God, reminding that one thing the devil is good at is distraction and destruction, saying this is because the devil is all out to accomplish the end time.
“Don’t give the devil room to distract, confuse and steal your joy at this convention. Always be eager to be the first at the places assigned for you to study and other activities as scheduled so as to return home spiritually loaded.
“The theme of this year’s children convention “Created for Good Works” (Eph 2:10) is timely and falls within the concept of the HEKAN National theme.
“If there is a time for children to know the purpose that they are given birth to mother earth is now, as many young people are yet to come to term with reality of life and as such have been living a purposeless life.
“I like to say that you are not here by accident. God the Creator of all creatures made you in his image and in his likeness that you may do good works” He said.
Also speaking on relationship between children and their parents, the HEKAN President tasked the children to take seriously the relationship with parents and church activities.
“In Luke 2:41, we see Jesus Christ and his biological parents worship at the temple. “He is lover and learner of the word of God and had to stay behind in the temple listening to teachers of his days.
“Above all, he was very obedient to his parents. Col.3:20 say children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. Do likewise and you will be bless.
“The Church in her quest for the furtherance of the ideologies of its founding fathers, HEKAN leadership has partner with David C. Cook global resources.
“He said if everything goes as planned, HEKAN Sunday Schools will from next year 2019 be using a contextualize Sunday school materials of her own.
“The ministry is focused on providing teaching materials for Sunday schools children globally. This partnership has given birth to production of Sunday school materials in English and Hausa in one volume. At the moment, the materials are with the printing press awaiting the go ahead from the church.
