Ex-Minister becomes PPFN Board Membership, as PPFN former Kaduna Chairman assures prompt support

The President, Planned Parenthood Federation (PPFN), Chief Wilfred Nkwagu has described the appointment of the Former Minister Of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole As Member, Board Of Trustees, International Planned Parenthood Federation (lPPF) as awelcome development.

He said the appointment was an opportunity to bring to bear his wealth of knowledge in the governance of global reproductive health programme.

Chief Nkwagu stated this in a statement made avialiable by Dr. Ibrahim Ibrahim, the PPFN Executive Director in Abuja.

He reiterated the commitment of PPFN to upholding and working in line with IPPF’s code of conduct for good governance and principles of membership within its operating environment.

Cheif Nkwagu expressed satisfaction over the successful reaccreditation of PPFN by the parent body, promising to do more in compliance with 49 essential membership standards.

He described the reaccreditation as testimony of PPFN’s excellence and adherence to the desirable goals of IPPF and promised to sustain the scorecard.

“We believe this exercise makes us stronger, more effective and able to respond to the needs of the people we serve.

“By scaling through the rigorous accreditation makes us accountable and preserves our local ownership in a globally connected network,” Ibrahim said.

“The governing council of IPPF on May 16, announced new 15 Board of Trustees members at the end of its meeting, which Adewole is a member.

“Bience Gawanas, another prominent African and former Commissioner for Social Affairs, African Union and current UN Under Secretary General is also a member” he stressed.

Also in his congratulations message, the former Kaduna State Chairman of PPFN, Comrade Kabir Ibrahim promised that they will give Professor Isaac Adewole very necessary support to ensure his work is smooth.
