The National President, Foundation for the Protection of Women and Children of Nigeria, Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani has observed that many commercial sex workers in the country has fail into the traps of ritualists, criminal, kidnappers, Arm-robbers and dangerous men to obtain daily meal.
Hajiya Ramatu who is also an lnterfaith Peace Ambassador made the observation in an interview with journalists to mark the 2020 World lnternational Sex Workers Day every 2nd of june evert year.
Accordinto her, some sex worker have been treated badly, beaten, tortured and maltreated in such a very bad way by their regular customers.
Hajiya Ramatu appealed to all commercial sex workers world-wide to abandoned prostitution and embraced other skilled acquisition or petite trade business.
The skilled trade, she noted would surely saves them from Contacting Sexually trasmmitted diseases STD, HIV/AID and other skins diseases from their regular customers that perjuries them .
The lnterfaith PeaceAmbassador Stressed that with so many small business ideas, when trained , they can be self employed and become future entrepreneurs that can benefit every one with their creativity in the society.
She was of the opinion that prostitution is such a heavy risky job that some women find them serves in today due to some circumstances in they find them serves .whille some toke it as a profession but some were been forced to do it for suivival in a foreign country.
“we have to empowered them with skills such as Tailoring , Cleaning Service, hair dressing, Phone Sales And Repairs, Domestic services,Car Washing, Clothing Business to be self –reliants and become future entrepreneurs”
“There is need to raise more awareness to women on the dangers of involving them serves into this profession because of dangers sourrounding the business.
“Although, some Sex workers in Nigeria were trained by an older professional or pimp prior to commencement on the job. The Training lessons concern how to deal with a difficult man, STD’s, smartness and self-defence under some critical situation they find them serves.
“There is need to embraced other skilled to save them serves from all forms of diseases associated with STD, adding that it is her joy to see that most of those women that are into the profession find a new business to start their lives with” she said.
She then called on corporate organization, wealthy individuals, Governmnent at all level, NGos, CSO and development partners to equally find means of helping toward changing lives of those women for better in other to make then realize their creativity.
Hajiya Ramatu called on citizens to halt stigmatizing commercial sex workers, she the appealed to religious leaders to pray for them to make them becomes a good house-wives in the future.
Similarly, the National President Peace Revival and Recounciliation Foundation of Nigeria, Pastor Yohanna Buru has draw the attention of some parents on Dangers sending their Girl-child from rural area to urbans cities for some domestic houses.
While applauding the effort of states ministry of women affairs, NDLEA, Non governmental organization for their commitment toward protection women and childrens right.
He urged parents and guardians to always monitor the movement of their childrens.
