The former Governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Ramalan Yero has said that the relative peace and harmonious co- existence being enjoyed in Kaduna state is under serious threats, saying it is unfortunate that the citizens have never been more divided than they are now.
Alhaji Yero who stated this at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Kaduna State Secretariat while declaring his intention to reclaim his seat in 2019 gubernatorial election alleged that Governor Nasir El-Rufai-led All Progressives Congress (APC) which took over power in 2015 has been a disaster, with common man facing bulk of the consequences.
According to him, Nigerians are living witnesses to the myriad of problems facing the States Governance since May 29, 2015 that has been a series of half-hearted trial and errors with disastrous consequences on the people, particularly the common man.
He was of the opinion that Kaduna State Government no longer cares about the primary purpose of its existence of providing security as well as improve on the welfare of citizens.
Alhaji Yero therefore informed that his decision to contest governorship come 20119 election is with deep sense of moral responsibility and high resolve, adding that his commitment and loyalty to the party has made him undergo humiliation and persecution assuring that him will not be intimidated or shaken but rather remain a loyal party man at all times.
The former Governor stressed that his decision to run was informed by the genuine concern of the people and the numerous calls received to contest in the forthcoming gubernatorial election of Kaduna state.
“I formally write to inform you about my decision to vie for the gubernatorial ticket of our great party the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2019 general elections.
“Having considered the plight of my people, I have consulted widely with my family members, key party stalwarts, political associates and other party faithful and have come to the conclusion to grant the wishes of my people by declaring to contest the gubernatorial elections by the Special Grace of the Almighty Allah.
“Lives and properties are being lost daily due to activities of armed banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery youth thuggery and street gangsterism.
“The relative peace and harmonious co- existence being enjoyed in Kaduna state is under serious threats. It is unfortunate that the citizens have never been more divided than they are now.
“I believe that my humble track record of academic achievements and working experience in both private and public have earned me tremendous knowledge, skills and capacity to understand the multiple expectations of our people across the state.
“I am quite aware of the task ahead is daunting but as a unifies, who hope to rise above divisiveness, sentiments and pettiness, I am convinced that the task is not insurmountable.
“These challenged require among other things, collective will to forge ahead in solidarity backed by dynamic, credible and purposeful leadership” the former Governor stressed.
He empathized that Kaduna state needs a leader that will turn the tide of fortunes of the state, a detribalized leader with conviction vision and above all, a leader with God to be able to harness the vast human and material resources for the well-being of the good people of Kaduna State.
According to Alhaji Yero, his unflinching support and loyalty to PDP is incontestable, pointing out that with his legacy of commitment to service, he will endeavour to lead and to do the best h can to state if voted into power come 2019.
