Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki has said that those pursuing Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi will not get him but continue to be a winner.
He made this known to newsmen while delivering his speech at the unveiling of Kada City FC, Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on Thursday.
Represented by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Youth and Sports, Senator Obinna Ogba, Senator Saraki who is the Chairman of the occasion told Senator Hunkuyi that “in Kaduna politics, he will always be a winner” he said.
According to Saraki, the Eight Senate, have realized the huge role Sports plays on youth development in creating conducive platforms for sports development in the country, saying Senator Hunkuyi being part of the 8th Assembly is now leading the race.
The Senate President informed that two bills for an Act to Establish a National Youth Development Commission passed second reading on the floor of the house while the Bill for the Establishment of the first ever University of Sports also passed first reading and is waiting the second reading.
According to him, by the timer the bills are passed into law, it would address the issues that hindered proper development of sports in the country and also addresses the challenges associated with illiteracy among sports men and women.
He commended Senator Hunkuyi for the noble idea of setting up a football club and academy, assuring him of provision of the technical, legal and institutional framework needed to strengthen the football outfit as at when due to ensure success.
Senator Saraki therefore challenged the youth to make good use of the opportunity, bearing in mind that the seed they sow today, they would definitely reap it tomorrow like Ahmed Musa, Victor Moses, Jayhay Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo, Rashhed Yekini among others.
He lamented that Nigeria is endowed with lots of talent and one of the most effective way to harness them is through grassroots sporting activities, believing that within the shortest possible time, Kada football club and academy will produce such people.
Earlier in his speech, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi said he has no regrets being part of the Kada City FC, in view of the impact it would have on the grassroots.
The Senator representing Kaduna North Senatorial District expressed he saw potentials beyond Kaduna state to the entire country, saying Kada club would focus on development of soccer in Kaduna State.
He explained that with the caliber of dignitaries at the unveiling, the seminar will raise the understanding, skills and knowledge of participants that would translate to raising standards at the communities in the grassroots.
When asked how he feels about the demolition of his property by the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam El-Rufai, Senator Hunkuyi said despite the incident, nothing will stop his political ambition except God.
Contributing, Kaduna State FA Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Kassim Sheriff said Kaduna State is blessed to have three teams in the Professional league, describing the State as one blessed with abundant talent.
