The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai has affirmed that the Nigerian Army School of Infantry (NASI), Jaji is the heart of military operations in achieving the training mandate of the Army.
Lieutenant General Buratai made the affirmation during the Ground Breaking Ceremony for Proposed New Nigeria Army School of Infantry Headquarters and Commissioning Ceremony of the Remodeled Tactics Wing at Jaji Military Cantonment in Kaduna State, North-West, Nigeria on Saturday.
The Chief of Army Staff said the school had gone beyond its primary role of churning out trainees of infantry courses to engage in wide range of tasks central to the accomplishment of the Army’s roles, especially in the fight against terrorism.
He said: “It is therefore pertinent that the Nigerian Army provides befitting structures and conducive environment for the officers and soldiers who are in the forefront of achieving these roles.
“I am thrilled to note that the hitherto notion being held by officers and soldiers that Jaji is a punishment ground, has become a thing of the past” he noted.
Lieutenant General Buratai was of the opinion that over the past two years, attempts have been made at improving the living, learning and training conditions in the school.
In his remark, the Infantry Corps Commander, Major General Lamidi Adeosun announced that Corps Commander Engineer alongside other Commanders made donations towards the project.
