Over one thousand people participated in the fourth edition of the Anambra Walk For Life Exercise, initiated by the Chairman, State Sports Development Commission Chief Tony Oli.
The edition which took off from the Ziks Roundabout Onitsha through Awka Road, to DMGS Roundabout and New Market Road, drew stakeholders in the State including House of Assembly members, Commissioners, top government functionaries, among others.
The team which also went through Eggerton road, GRA through Governor’s Lodge, Onitsha and ended at Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium with aerobics has few refill drops and centers where people paused to take water.
The Chairman of the State Sports Development Commission, Chief Tony Oli while appreciating Ndi Onitsha for coming out en masse for the exercise, said having been duly approved by Governor Willie Obiano, the exercise is a means of encouraging them to keep fit and healthy, adding that subsequent editions will take place in Awka, Nnewi and other areas.
Speaking, the member representing Onitsha North Constituency 2 at the State Assembly, Mr. Eddy Ibuzo said the exercise has numerous benefits and advising his constituents to embark on regular exercise.
Commenting. Chief Uche Nworah said supporter of the walk for life project which he said has turned to be a tradition under the present administration.
The Transition Committee Chairman for Onitsha North Local Government Area, Mr. Patrick Ayamba lauded the Governor for supporting the initiative.
Also present were the Commissioner for Lands, Mr. Nnamdi Onukwube, member representing Onitsha South Constituency Two, Mrs. Beverly Nkemdiche-Ikpazu, APGA candidate for Onitsha North and South Federal Constituency, Mr. Patrick Obianwu, among others.
