The Batch B NYSC members serving with the 1 Mechanize Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna State in conjunction with Headquarters 1 Division Army Public Relations wish to propose NYSC Entrepreneur Trade Fair to hold 19th -22nd Oct., 2017.
The Deputy Director Army Public Relations Officers (DDAPR) of the Division, Colonel Kingsley Umoh stated this in a Letter for Security Agencies Sponsorship and Support Batch NYSC Entrepreneur Trade Fair, made available to newsmen in Kaduna, North-West, Nigeria on Friday.
He said the event is conceived to encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship among-st young graduates and believed that this is just a modest contribution to help reduce unemployment among-st young graduates.
Colonel Umoh added that “Unemployment is a key factor in heightening the state of insecurity in the country.
“All the stakeholders should be interested in encouraging any efforts that is channeled towards reducing unemployment and ultimately contributing to reduce the number of youths available for crime, criminality and mischievous intents.
“There is no doubt that the military has and continued to acquit itself in the performance of its duties, but as a result, the military is seriously over-stretched. Hence the need to engage the minds of section of the civil society for preventive and other measures that engender the right attitude that will help reduce insecurity.
“The event is targeted at young graduates of NYSC (Whether serving, finished or preparing to serve).
“It is aimed at providing a platform and a market for those of them who have acquired skills in hair dressing, sewing, make-up, catering and other such vocational enterprise. It is also aimed to provide ground for mentoring, open up opportunities for engagement and also encourage others to seek skills that can help them in being self-employed.
“All vendors in the areas of enterprise listed are welcome to participant” he stressed.
According to the DDAPR, the trade fair will be tagged NYSC Green Trade and Fun Fair, saying the name is chosen as a tribute to “Green” as the Nigerian color and in view of the coincidence of National Independence celebrations.
“You are therefore please requested for sponsor and support to ensure the success of this programme which has the support of the General Officers Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army, the Honorable Commissioner of Youth and Sports and Culture, Kaduna State, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly and the State Director of the NYSC at Murtala Mohammed Square” he concluded.
