The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has reiterated his position that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given Ndigbo the Biafra they have long sought through full inclusion in National governance, as he described 2026 as a year of restoration.
In his New Year message made available to our correspondent in Awka by his former Chief Press Secretary, Sir. Emma Uzor to the former Governor, Senator Umahi stated that Nigeria has passed through the worst phase of its nationhood, attributing the progress to the robust economic policies of the current administration.
He expressed optimism that the coming year would witness a massive turnaround across all sectors of the economy.
The Minister urged the people of the South East to remain steadfast in their support for President Tinubu’s re-election, describing the President as a source of consolation for Ndigbo after years of neglect and marginalization.
Umahi further expressed confidence that the region would correct what he described as the mistakes of the 2023 general election by voting overwhelmingly for President Tinubu in future elections. According to him, the President has addressed the long-standing marginalization of the South East by previous administrations.
He said, “Our people will not repeat the mistakes of 2023. We will stand firmly together in support of Mr. President in the 2027 election. Ndigbo will no longer be deceived by politicians with sugar-coated words. President Tinubu will be on the ballot in 2027, and once he is on the ballot, all South East Governors, including myself as Minister of Works, are also on the ballot. It is in our collective interest to support a leader who has reopened our chapter and is investing massively in our future. Indeed, the Biafra is here.”
The Minister called for social re-engineering and deradicalization, urging the people to understand that the Biafra Ndigbo have sought can be achieved through national integration and equal participation in national development.
Umahi also assured Nigerians that federal road projects across all regions of the country are receiving adequate funding and supervision, noting that many of them would be completed within record time and according to specifications.
He disclosed that a special task force would be established to enforce the directive banning trucks from parking on federal highways. He added that the Ministry of Works would collaborate
