Military Ambush: 269 cows and 241 sheep abandoned by armed bandits in Zamfara State

The troops of 1 Brigade, 1 Division Nigerian Army, deployed at Anka Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State on Operation SHARAN DAJI on Tuesday 26th September 2017, received information that suspected armed bandits were crossing with rustled animals along Kuran Mota cattle route in Anka LGA.

According to the Director Army Public Relations (DAPR), Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman in a press statement, the troops mobilized, ambushed and engaged the suspected armed bandits in a fierce gun battle.

Brigadier General Usman mentioned that the armed bandits however, fled and abandoned 269 cows and 241 sheep.

He explained that the recovered animals were safely moved to Anka and will be handed over to Zamfara State Government officials who would hand over to the legitimate owners.

Also, in a related development, Director Army Public Relations informed that the troops of 223 Battalion, 1 Division Nigerian Army, on the same day, in conjunction with men of Department of State Service conducted a joint raid operation on suspected armed bandits’ settlement in Dandume LGA of Katsina State.

Brigadier General Usman said the team recovered 1 x AK-47 rifle, 1 rifle magazine, 1,253 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) and 1 motorcycle.
