The Nigerian Air Force is tightening its grip on the nation’s airspace and preparing for sustained, intensified strikes against insurgents and terrorists as Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, on Tuesday rolled out a hardline operational roadmap aimed at crushing hostile networks across all theatres of operation.

At a closed-door high-level strategic meeting with Air Component Commanders (ACCs) on 10 February 2026, Aneke declared that the era of half-measures is over, vowing that the Air Force will maintain unceasing, intelligence-driven pressure until lasting peace is restored nationwide.

Describing the meeting as a war-fighting review summit, the Air Chief said the session was convened to rigorously interrogate ongoing missions, identify and seal operational gaps, and realign air strategies with rapidly evolving security threats.

“This is about speed, precision and dominance,” Aneke told commanders. “Every sortie must count. Every mission must weaken the enemy. Every decision must push us closer to total security restoration.”

He stressed that the Nigerian Air Force will continue to project overwhelming airpower in close coordination with ground troops and other services, ensuring joint operations deliver decisive battlefield results.

The Air Chief paid glowing tribute to the courage and endurance of Air Component Commanders and frontline personnel operating under intense combat conditions, noting that their sacrifices have yielded measurable gains in degrading insurgent capabilities and disrupting terror networks.

“These results reflect our commitment to building a highly motivated, mission-ready force,” he said. “Our personnel are our greatest strength. Their resilience under fire proves that the Nigerian Air Force is focused, prepared and battle-ready.”

But Aneke made it clear that the fight is far from over.

Warning that the security landscape remains fluid and unpredictable, he directed commanders to scale up intelligence-led operations, deepen inter-agency cooperation and fully exploit modern technology to stay ahead of adaptive threats.

He underscored standardised training, predictive aircraft maintenance and rapid logistics support as non-negotiable pillars of sustained air combat effectiveness, insisting that operational tempo must never be compromised by avoidable setbacks.

The meeting featured detailed operational briefings and interactive reviews, with Branch Chiefs and senior officers contributing to what the Air Force described as a unified operational roadmap for the months ahead.

In a direct message to Nigerians, the Air Chief assured the public that the Air Force is maintaining relentless operational momentum and will not cede ground to forces threatening national stability.

“The Nigerian Air Force stands as a shield over the nation,” Aneke declared. “We remain vigilant, aggressive against threats, and fully aligned with our constitutional duty to protect lives, assets and territorial integrity.”

As insecurity continues to test the nation, Aneke’s message from the command room was unmistakable: Nigeria’s skies will remain hostile territory for terrorists, as the Air Force evolves, strengthens partnerships and applies decisive airpower until peace is firmly secured.

With resolve hardened and operations intensifying, the Air Force insists the path ahead is clear resilience, professionalism and an unbreakable determination to defend the nation at all costs.
