The Bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Dr. Owen Nwokolo says pursuit of vain glory and conforming to the standard of the World is a complete departure from the Biblical standard.
He stated this during his Presidential Address to mark the second session of the thirty-first synod of the Diocese with the theme “Walk in the Spirit” at Saint Simon’s Church, Nnobi, Idemili South Council Area of Anambra State.
The Bishop regretted that Worldly views affect Christians and prevent them from walking in the truth, admonishing them to crucify the flesh in other to recapture the essence of walking in the Spirit, as the church is expected to lead by example.
Speaking on the state of the Nation, he commended the federal government for showing some level of seriousness in the construction of the Second Niger Bridge after decades of lip service and urged the government to work towards the time frame of the project.
Bishop Nwokolo stated that the COVID -19 pandemic exposed the level of decay in the Nigeria health sector and called for equitable distribution of relief packages to all sections of the country.
The Bishop While calling for completion of construction work on Onitsha/Enugu Expressway urged the federal government to diversify the economy to avoid imminent crash of the country.
He commended Governor Willie Obiano for engendering some paradigm shift in the State and called on the State government to expedite action on worn out roads to ease transportation and beef security at flashpoints like Awada-Obosi, Onitsha, Otuocha among other strategic areas.
Bishop Nwokolo urged Anambra State government to address communal clashes which he said is becoming worrisome and also to include Anglican and Catholic churches in distribution of government COVID-19 relief packages to
ensure even distribution to densely populated areas.
The event was attended by over twelve Anglican Bishops including Archbishop, Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim among other.
