4 Foreigners Kidnap, 2 Policemen shot dead in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed that gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have killed two policemen and abducted four foreigners in Kaduna State.

Spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, Mr. Mukhtar Aliyu who confirmed the abduction to newsmen on Wednesday said the two Americans and two Canadians are executing a solar power project in Kafanchan before the incident took place in Kagarko Local Government Area of the state.

Mr. Aliyu said the gunmen ambushed a vehicle conveying the foreigners along the Jere-Kargao Road on Tuesday about 7 PM in the night while they were returning to Abuja from Kafanchan.

He added that two policemen who were attached to the vehicle were shot dead during an exchange of gunfire with the kidnappers who later took away the foreigners to an unknown destination.

The Command’s spokesman, however, said operatives of the Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit have been deployed to rescue the Americans and Canadians, as well as apprehend and arrest their abductors.

“Yes I can confirm to you that two of our men were killed and two America and two Canadian expatriates were abducted around 7 pm yesterday (Tuesday).

“We are already in serious search and rescue operation. We have dispatched our anti-kidnapping squad to rescue them alive. It is unfortunate but we are on top of it.
