The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Wednesday appointed six Governor’s as Zonal Coordinating Governors to narrow down the party’s activities to the geopolitical zones and the need for the party to be active at all levels throughout the year.
The Governors are:-
South East: Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma
North West: Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani.
North Central: Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq.
North East: Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni.
South West: Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
South South: Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu.
In his address during the inauguration in Abuja National Secretariat, Umar Ganduje read out the terms of reference to the Coordinating Governors which include:-
“To Mobilize governor’s of the zones for effectively and physically participate in party activities in the zone.
“Consult with governor’s and resolve some issues that will further enhance the progress and unity of the party.
“Assists the party on resource mobilization in serving the party
“Coordinate the governors of the zones always identify and participate more on the activities of the party
“Initiate periodic interface between the governors of the zones with the leadership of the party.
“Liase with the party to commence immediate process of genuine reconciliation of aggrieved party members in the geopolitical zone and lastly
“Participate in any other activity that may be assigned by the party.
Ganduje informed that there must be a governor who will oversee, motivate, and encourage all within the various zones as the only way the party can move forward quickly.
“So to do that, we have narrowed down our activities to geopolitical zones. There must be a governor that will oversee, that will motivate, encourage all within that zone, that is the only way that we can move forward quickly.
“We are here to mobilize the demand of the people, we have to mobilize what the people like, to form an agenda for the party and for the government and also we have to disseminate information on what the government is doing down to the people” he stated.
Responding on behalf of the Coordinating Governors, Hope Uzodinma promised to they would contribute their quota to stimulate the activities of the party to dominate the political space in the six geopolitical zones.
According to him, they would also do their best as progressive governor’s forum to support the government to ensure that the government is functional and effective, to encourage all inclusive programs in the government and to strengthen the reward system of the party in government.
Uzodinma commended the National Chairman for the confidence reposed on them, assuring that all the governors will do their best to meet the expectations of the party.
“On behalf of the Coordinating Governors of the six geopolitical zones of our party, I thank you for finding us worthy to do this assignment. Doing this assignment we are almost certain the expectations will be met” he said.
Meanwhile, recall that yesterday, APC announced the constitution of a 9-member ad-hoc election committee for the party’s electoral process.
A statement by the APC National Publicity Secretary Barr Felix Morka said Hon. Emma Eneujwu is to serve as the Committee Chairman.
Morka wrote: “By a Resolution adopted at its 144th Meeting held on the 6th of March, 2024, the National Working Committee of our great Party constituted an
Ad hoc Election Committee of its members for the smooth running of election processes. The Committee has the following as members:
