7 Villagers Gun down, renowned politician assassinates in Kaduna

Gunmen numbering about 50 has stormed Kaguru village in Birnin Gwari local government of Kaduna state, killing 7 while several others sustained varying degrees of injury as a result of the attack.

The attack occurred on Wednesday evening when the hoodlums stormed the village and began to open fire at the villagers and as a result of the attack, 7 dead bodies were discovered while several others left critically injured.

The injured ones was learnt were taken to General hospital Birnin Gwari for medical attention.

A source at the emirate who pleaded for anonymity informed that the situation was calm as of Thursday, saying, “people are now going about their activities as normalcy had returned to the area.

Confirming the incident, the Police Spokesman in the State, Mallam Muktar Aliyu said, the police had deployed a detachment of mobile police to the area to restore order.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Government has condoled with the people of Kaguru community over the unfortunate attack.

A government statement by the governor’s aide, Samuel Aruwan disclosed that the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) is mobilized to provide relief materials to distressed persons and take inventory.

Also in similar vein, a renowned politician and business giant who hailed from Sanga local government area of Kaduna State, Mr. Moses Isa Banka has been allegedly assassinated by unknown gunmen at his residence, Ankwa village, Jema’a local government area.

Administrator of Jema’a local government area, Alhaji Yusuf Usman who confirmed the incident on Thursday said, the deceased was assassinated Wednesday night at his residence in Ankwa village in Godogodo Chiefdom of the local government.

“The assassins stormed the residence and headed straight to his room and shot at him without hurting anyone before they left.

“Before his death, he was also an active farmer and owned an irrigation farm at Dogon Daji Reserve close to Godogodo where he farmed hectares of soy beans” he said.

Mr. Usman said a formal report had been made to the appropriate authority on the unfortunate incident and urged the people to remain calm as efforts were ongoing to fish out the perpetrators.

Also, Administrator of Sanga local government, Alhaji Abdulmuminin Ashafa, regretted the unfortunate demise of the deceased saying, late Isa Banker would be remembered for the meaningful contributions he made to the people at the grassroots especially those from the area.

Mallam Yuguda Dauda, a resident of Gwantu in Sanga local government recalled that late Isa Banka single-handedly built the local government council secretariat in Gwantu asides sponsoring politicians from the area.

Police spokesman in the state, Aliyu Mukhtar could not be reached for comment as at the time of filing this report.
