The House of Representatives Committee on Constitution Review has unveiled a summarized compendium of 86 Constitution Review Bills currently under consideration.

The Committee chaired by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu disclosed this during a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday.

He affirmed that the compendium, organized into 13 thematic areas, provided a comprehensive overview of the proposed amendments, including explanatory memoranda, long titles, and detailed expositions of each bill.

According to him, the compendium covers 13 thematic areas, including Electoral Reforms, Judicial Reforms, Legislature, Inclusive Governance, Security and Policing, and others.

He mentioned that the House intends to use feedback from the public to inform its decisions when the bills are brought up for voting.

Zonal public hearings will be held across the country to facilitate public engagement and solicit inputs from Nigerians.

The hearings will be held in 12 centers across the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria, providing an open platform for citizens, civil society organizations, and other interest groups to express their views and contribute to the constitutional reform process.

A national public hearing will be held on July 21, 2025, to further engage stakeholders and the general public.

“We encourage you to download the summarized compendium of the bills from (link unavailable), review the proposals, and provide your feedback during the hearings.

“Together, we can create a more inclusive and effective constitution that reflects the aspirations of our great nation” Hon. Kalu said.

The Deputy House Speaker informed that the unveiling of the compendium marks a significant step towards constitutional reform in Nigeria, demonstrating the House’s commitment to ensuring broader participation by Nigerians in the amendment process.

He noted that the zonal public hearings and national public hearing will provide opportunities for citizens to contribute to the constitutional reform process, promoting transparency and accountability.
