The Africa Media Development Foundation (AMDF) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for conferring posthumous national honors on late journalist James Bagauda Kaltho, who made the ultimate sacrifice in pursuit of truth.

According to the Executive Director of AMD, Sejyen Dadik in a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday, the recognition honors Kaltho’s courage, dedication, and commitment to journalism, highlighting the importance of press freedom and protecting journalists.

“We commend the President’s gesture, which serves as a reminder of the value of journalistic integrity and the sacrifices made by those who dare to speak truth to power.”

She explained that the organization had introduced the Bagauda Kaltho Media Lecture Series in 2019 to immortalize Kaltho, who disappeared in 1996/1997 due to his journalism work.

The Executive Director of AMDF informed that Kaltho’s family expressed appreciation for the honor, with his wife, Martha, stating, “At last, my husband has been vindicated.”

His daughters, Ann and Leshi, thanked those who have supported the family during difficult times.

AMDF hoped that this honor would bring comfort and solace to Kaltho’s family, acknowledging that his struggles and contributions were not in vain.
