The Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE) has fired the opening salvo ahead of its flagship 2025 Investiture Public Lecture & Awards, setting the stage for what is expected to be one of the year’s most influential gatherings of Nigeria’s digital media community.
The event, slated for November 25, 2025, will take place at the prestigious Azikiwe Hall, Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, bringing together more than 300 key stakeholders from government, the diplomatic corps, civil society, security institutions and the media industry.
In a statement signed by ACOE Chairman, Shola Akingboye, the association said this year’s theme “Strengthening Corporate Online Media for National Development” signals a renewed push to elevate Nigeria’s digital journalism landscape through professionalism, innovation and accountability.
Now in its third year, ACOE is using the annual Investiture Lecture & Awards to spotlight the critical role online media plays in shaping public policy, deepening democratic governance, and combating misinformation in an era defined by digital disruption and political complexity.
According to the statement, the 2025 edition features a robust lineup of events designed to confront the biggest challenges facing the sector:
Experts and government stakeholders will dissect how stronger strategic communication, improved media–government synergy, investment in digital infrastructure, and accountability-centred reporting can help stabilise Nigeria’s institutional landscape and strengthen national cohesion.
ACOE will honour individuals and institutions who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to good governance, humanitarian service and national security.
A major highlight will be the posthumous honours for fallen heroes security operatives who have died fighting insurgency and banditry since 2010.
The evening gala will feature the cutting of ACOE’s third anniversary cake and the presentation of special honours recognising excellence within the corporate online media ecosystem.
The association emphasised that this year’s gathering is not just a ceremony, but a strategic intervention aimed at repositioning online media as a credible driver of national development, economic transformation and democratic accountability.
With heavyweights from multiple sectors expected in attendance, the 2025 ACOE Investiture is shaping up to be a defining moment for Nigeria’s fast-evolving digital media landscape and a clear statement that the era of unregulated, unprofessional online reporting is nearing its end.
