The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on Nigerian youth to embrace patriotism as a driving force for national transformation, describing them as the “heartbeat of the nation” whose vision and leadership will define the country’s future.
In a message to mark International Youth Day 2025, the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary (Conventional Media), Hon. Jackie Wayas, praised the creativity, resilience, and courage of young Nigerians, urging them to see patriotism not just as sentiment but as active participation in building the nation.
“True patriotism is expressed in service, in responsibility, in standing for justice, in choosing unity over division, and in committing to the hard work of nation-building,” Wayas said.
She stressed that the Nigeria of tomorrow would not be handed down but must be deliberately built, with the youth taking a central role in politics, governance, and civic engagement.
“The youth must participate in leadership, hold leaders accountable, and contribute innovative ideas for national progress,” she added, assuring that the ADC is committed to empowering young Nigerians to turn their love for the country into tangible action.
Wayas also called on all Nigerians to mentor and support young people, providing platforms for their ideas to thrive.
“Together, let us transform our love for Nigeria into action that will build the nation we all dream of,” she said.
International Youth Day, celebrated globally on August 12, aimed to highlight the role of young people in driving social, economic, and political change.
