The outgoing Commandant of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji, Retired Air vice Marshal Suleiman Abubakar Dambo has urged officers and men of the Command to extend same level of co-operation and support accorded him to the newly appointed Commandant, Air vice Marshal Lawal Shittu Alao.
In a press statement made available by the College Public Relations Officer, Major Charles Ekeocha to newsmen in Kaduna stated that Retired Air vice Marshal Dambo gave the charge during a brief handing-over ceremony at the College, Jaji Military Cantonment on Thursday.
According to the outgoing Commandant who retires after 35 years of meritorious service, the co-operation is to enable the incoming Commandant, AVM Alao consolidate on the achievement the College witnessed during his tenure.
“Until his appointment, Air vice Marshal Lawal Shittu Alao as the 22nd Commandant of the prestigious College was the Chief of Administration at the Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Abuja.
“He was born on 1 June 1966 and hails from Oyo State and enlisted into the Nigerian Air Force on 1st June 1984 as a University Cadet and was commissioned on 11 September 1986.
“AVM Alao was a recipient of the Commander -in- Chief award at the National Defence College Abuja as the Best All Round Participant of course 18 National Defence College Abuja.
“Also he was equally selected to have written the Best Research project during his course.
“An alumnus of Air Force Command and Staff College Indonesia where he won the Mayangkara Award as the Best Foreign student.
“In the course of his Military career, AVM Alao has held several appointment amongst which include Instructor Supply School, Technical Training Group Kaduna, Officer in Charge supply squadron Headquarter Nigeria Air Force Camp Abuja, Director National and Military Strategy Nigerian Defence College Abuja and Chief of Administration Nigeria Air Force Abuja his last Posting before his present appointment” he stressed.
Shortly after receiving the Flag of Office from the out-gone Commandant AVM SA Dambo, the new Commandant expressed happiness at the level and standard the College has attained and promised to build on it.
AVM Alao however prayed for good health of the retiring former Commandant to enable him enjoys the fruit of his labour.
The highlight of the occasion is the exchange of AFCSC Colours and handover notes.
Those present at the occasion includes the Deputy Commandant, Directors of the College, Chief Instructors and the host of other College Staff.
