The Federal Government of Nigeria has offered its heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Zambia following the passing of former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu on June 5, 2025.
According to a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Friday by, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja President Lungu dedicatedly served Zambia from 2015 to 2021, driving significant national developments, including infrastructure growth and regional diplomacy.
His leadership promoted inclusivity, national unity, and economic diversification, marked by notable milestones such as the appointment of Zambia’s first female President. President Lungu also strengthened Africa’s global voice and regional solidarity.
He assured that Nigeria stands in solidarity with the Lungu family, the Patriotic Front, and the Zambian people during this period of mourning.
The spokesperson maintained that Nigeria also joined the international community in celebrating his life and legacy, wishing his soul eternal rest.
