The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, says every promotion within the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) marks a leap toward a smarter, more resilient, and mission-ready force, underscoring his vision to build an Air Force anchored on merit, motivation, and modern warfare readiness.
Speaking at the decoration ceremony for newly promoted Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs), whose new ranks took effect from September 1, 2025, Air Marshal Aneke described the exercise as a renewal of strength, discipline, and national trust in the Service’s role in defending Nigeria’s airspace.
“With every promotion, we build a smarter, more resilient, and more dedicated Air Force,” the CAS declared. “Each newly elevated airman and airwoman embodies our collective resolve to protect, serve, and soar higher for the nation.”
Aneke stressed that the 2025 promotion process was transparent, merit-based, and aligned with the standards of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
He assured that other qualified personnel who have completed required professional or technical courses would be considered in subsequent exercises.
He urged the newly promoted officers to see their elevation as both honour and higher responsibility.
“Promotion is not just about rising in rank; it is about rising to greater expectations,” he said. “You have earned this through hard work and sacrifice; now is the time to give even more to your country and to the Service.”
Reiterating his leadership philosophy built on motivation and mentorship, the CAS noted that morale remains a decisive factor in achieving operational excellence.
“Our personnel are our greatest asset,” he stated. “When they are motivated, our operations become sharper, our decisions smarter, and our impact greater.”
He added that a well-trained, well-equipped, and inspired workforce is key to maintaining air superiority, precision, and adaptability amid emerging security challenges.
The 2025 NCO promotion, according to him, fits into the NAF’s broader agenda to institutionalize professionalism through continuous training, welfare enhancement, and structured career progression.
It also signals the Service’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders to sustain operational innovation and national defence capability.
“As we take on new ranks and new responsibilities,” Aneke charged, “let humility, professionalism, and patriotism define your service. Together, we will continue to soar higher for the flag, for the Force, and for the future of our nation.”
