Alleged terrorists takeover of military training in Niger State incorrect, inaccurate – DHQ denies

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has strongly denied the alleged takeover of the Nigerian Army Military Training Area in Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State, describing it as incorrect and inaccurate.

The Director, Defence Media Operations (DDMO), Major General Edward Buba in a press statement on Wednesday and made available to newsmen in Abuja affirmed that no inch of the training area has been ceded to the terrorist.

He informed that the Armed Forces has clarified that the ongoing operations, particularly in Niger State, are against terrorists, saying it is erroneous for such threats to be described in any other form other than terrorists.

The DDMO mentioned that the military is working closely with the State Government to ensure improved security in the state and for the citizens.

“While, it is understood that troops have recorded encounters with terrorists in the course of operating in the general area.

“No inch of the training area has been ceded to the terrorist. Indeed, troops constantly eliminate the threat posed by terrorist criss crossing the vast area. Our clearance operations in the area have denied the terrorist freedom of action.

“Additionally, the armed forces seizes the opportunity to clarify that our ongoing operations, particularly in Niger State, are against terrorists. It is therefore erroneous for such threats to be described in any other form other than terrorists.”

“Our troops are not relenting to ensure total destruction of these terrorists wherever they may be hiding,” he said.
