The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described its victory in the just-concluded by-elections as a clear indication that Nigerians still trust the party to deliver on its promises ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing journalists at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday on the Party’s successes in the recent legislative bye-elections, germane Party issues and preparedness for forthcoming elections, the National Organizing Secretary, Alhaji Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, dismissed opposition claims that the elections were insignificant.

He stressed that the victories recorded in states governed by the opposition, especially the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), showed the ruling party’s growing acceptance.

“If we can win elections in PDP states, it means Nigerians have faith in the APC and in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda. The electorate is satisfied with the vision and manifesto of our great party,” Argungu said.

On the APC’s internal processes, Argungu noted that since assuming office in 2022, his department had introduced innovations to strengthen transparency and teamwork in the conduct of primaries and other organizational matters.

He emphasized that the organizing department now works more closely with the National Working Committee (NWC) and party staff to ensure openness in all election-related activities.

Addressing questions on the Ekiti governorship race, Argungu confirmed that four aspirants, including the incumbent Governor, Abiodun Oyebanji, have purchased the Nomination and Expression of Interest Form.

He added that the party had given women aspirants a 40% discount to encourage female participation in politics.

“Nobody has been denied access to the contest. The process is open, transparent, and guided by the Electoral Act 2022 and our party constitution,” he stated.

On the 2027 presidential ticket, Argungu said while the APC NWC and various organs of the party had endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the preferred candidate, the process would remain open to other aspirants when the time came.

“There is no dictatorship in democracy. Endorsing President Tinubu is an expression of confidence in his leadership, but that does not mean the door is closed to others,” he clarified.

Responding to allegations by the opposition that the APC used security agencies to influence the polls, Argungu dismissed the claims as “laughable,” insisting that the victories were earned through the will of the people.

He added that the APC’s new National Chairman personally led campaign efforts in several states, energizing party members and mobilizing voters.

“We don’t believe in vote buying or intimidation. The electorate came out to freely vote for the APC because they believe in our leadership,” he said.

Argungu also debunked rumors that Governor Oyebanji was planning to leave the party, stressing that no politician would spend ₦50 million to buy a nomination form only to defect immediately afterward.

Argungu assured that the ruling party would continue to consolidate its gains while preparing strategically for the 2027 elections.

He hailed its performance in the just-concluded by-elections across parts of the country, describing the outcome as a strong reaffirmation of Nigerians’ confidence in the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Alhaji Argungu said the APC’s victories across several constituencies underscored the trust Nigerians continue to repose in President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the party’s leadership.

“By the grace of Almighty God and through the commitment of our leaders, members, and supporters nationwide, the All Progressives Congress recorded resounding victories in these constituencies. This is a remarkable achievement and another testimony of the growing acceptance of our party across the federation,” Argungu stated.

He added that the party’s triumph demonstrates that Nigerians remain firmly aligned with the APC’s vision and policies, expressing confidence that the momentum would be sustained as the country moves closer to the 2027 elections.

He concluded by assuring Nigerians that the APC remains committed to internal democracy, inclusivity, and credible elections as the party consolidates ahead of 2027.

The APC National Organizing Secretary, HE. Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, OFR, was accompanied by the Deputy National Organizing Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru; Director of Elections Management, Hon. Tasi’u Mohammed and Director of Organisation, Dr. Ahmed Wambai Suleiman.
