Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has opened 2026 with a confident political and economic forecast, declaring that the most difficult phase of recent reforms is easing and that the country is entering a period of recovery, stability and shared prosperity.

In a New Year statement issued in Abuja on January 1, 2026 by Felix Morka, CON, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC extended goodwill to Nigerians while framing the turn of the year as a moment for national stocktaking, renewed commitment and collective optimism.

According to the party, every New Year presents an opportunity not only for celebration, but for candid reflection on Nigeria’s journey of nationhood, acknowledging sacrifices made, lessons learned and progress achieved despite longstanding structural challenges.

The APC expressed gratitude to Nigerians for what it described as patriotic resilience and sustained support for both the party and the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, particularly amid far-reaching reforms across key sectors of the economy.

The statement acknowledged that the administration’s policy choices have not been painless, but insisted that early indicators now suggest a turning point.

“The transient pains of deep and focused reforms are steadily dissipating,” the party said, pointing to what it described as improving macroeconomic stability, easing microeconomic pressures and a steadily rebounding national economy.

The ruling party argued that these gains signal the re-emergence of a more resilient Nigeria, one positioned for growth across infrastructure, agriculture, energy and security.

Framing government performance as a shared national achievement, the APC said the administration’s success belongs to all Nigerians and should inspire confidence as the country advances toward what it termed a future of shared prosperity.

Beyond economics, the party paid tribute to Nigeria’s security forces, describing them as frontline defenders in the fight against terrorism, banditry and violent crime.

It commended their “exceptional patriotism and invaluable sacrifice,” pledging continued national gratitude and support.

Looking ahead, the APC said it would intensify efforts in 2026 to justify public trust as a pan-Nigerian progressive party, reaffirming unwavering support for President Tinubu’s reform agenda.

The party highlighted ongoing initiatives aimed at restoring macroeconomic stability, improving infrastructure delivery, boosting agricultural output, expanding oil sector productivity and strengthening national security.

It stressed that President Tinubu remains fully committed to implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda in its entirety, insisting that the reforms are designed to deliver long-term prosperity rather than short-term political comfort.

The statement concluded on a note of faith and national aspiration, expressing hope that peace, plenty and progress will define Nigeria’s path in the year ahead.

The New Year message positions 2026 as a pivotal test year, one in which reform promises are expected to translate into measurable outcomes for millions of Nigerians.
