The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday Inaugurated ten member of the Screening and Appeal Committees to screen all the aspirants for Ondo State governorship primary Election on April 20th 2024.
Inaugurating the Committee by the APC Deputy National Organizing Committee, Nze Chidi Duru on behalf of the National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje at the National Secretariat in Abuja, Duru informed that they have to lean a basket of the candidates into definite categories, to enable it to be flawless, smooth sailing and enable the work to be more reasonably organized.
The APC Deputy National Organizing Committee pointed out that the the exercise the Committee are being asked to perform on behalf of the party is with necessary diligence, discipline, friendliness, that the work requires.
According to him, the Committee have to work round the clock to be able to complete the exercise within the timeframe that APC have projected.
Duru affirmed that the party will also help the Committee to midwife most of the things that will be required and then hand it over to the Appeal Committee that will start their work tomorrow, Saturday.
“It is important to stress the fact on the point that the screening committee, the exercise that you are being asked to perform on behalf of the party and we believe that you undertake the exercise with necessary diligence, discipline, of course, friendliness, that the work requires, unfortunately and I don’t envy you. It was meant to be a two day exercise, only because an additional day was added to the national holiday.
“So we have to compress the two days into one day. Which means that you will work round the clock to be able to complete the exercise within the timeframe that we have projected.
“And we also have to lean a basket of the candidates into definite categories, to enable it to be flawless and smooth sailing and enable the work to be more reasonably organized. It’s important again to stress that the work of the appeal committee only starts when the screening committee has finished their work.
“lt is important that when they finish your work within the timeframe allowed, they can hand over their report, not just the documents , you hand over your report.
“For us the secretariat, we will also help you to midwife most of the things that will be required and then hand it over to the appeal committee that will start their work tomorrow, when they complete their work, we can then get the clearance otherwise, to the candidates. So the work is intertwine and in that basket, we must also say and I’m happy that the senator is here, we always have the tradition.
“Our tradition is that if there is a member of the National Assembly and it also goes to the executive governors that come before you, our tradition allows them to take a bow. So we must extend that courtesy.
“If any member of the National Assembly, a former governor, comes before actually admitting, let him do his interview and then leave while you continue the screening.
Those of them who bought their forms, I think they are about three or four who are members of the parliament, two are current and one is an ex-colleague. And if there is any request, any support that you need, Malam Tasir will be there to render any support. All the files of candidates will be made available to you for you to look at and scrutinize and then make your comments” he ended.
