The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has said that suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara cannot join the party without consequences, even if he defects.
APC Chairman Tony Okocha who disclosed this to journalists at the APC Media Centre in Abuja on Tuesday, affirmed that Fubara’s political sins won’t be easily forgiven, and his meeting with President Bola Tinubu doesn’t guarantee automatic admission into the party.
Okocha also claimed that Fubara hasn’t made any genuine reconciliation efforts with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, narrating the governor’s actions, such as gathering supporters and celebrating, don’t constitute meaningful reconciliation.
He emphasized that Fubara needs to make a thorough reconciliation effort to move forward.
“I need to state, or take this opportunity to let you know that there is no reconciliation move made by Governor Fubara on Wike.
“The reconciliation is not about your team – your boys gather somewhere and you eat, you drink, you dance. What’s that? That’s not it at all. Meanwhile, you hear things like on the 29th of May, when the President marks his second year in office, the state of emergency will be reversed. The 29th came and passed, I didn’t hear that.
“I don’t know where they are getting their facts. What is very strong now in Port Harcourt is that on the 12th June, Democracy Day, the President is going to reverse the emergency” he noted.
The APC Rivers Chairman dismissed rumors that the President would reverse the state of emergency on Democracy Day, saying that Fubara’s fate remains uncertain.
Okocha challenged anyone with contrary information to debate him, asserting that there’s no ongoing reconciliation effort between Fubara and Wike.
