An All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Governor Biodun Oyebanji has applauded the Ekiti State Governorship Screening Committee for what he described as a thorough and transparent exercise, insisting the process will safeguard the party from future crises.
Speaking to journalist in an interview shortly after facing the Committee Panel on, the hopeful revealed that his credentials were scrutinized and tough questions asked and expressed confidence in the Committee’s ability to deliver a fair outcome.
“I must commend the APC for putting this structure in place. It will save the party from a lot of problems,” he said. “I have absolute confidence that the party will get it right.”
The aspirant stressed that democracy thrives on participation, describing the competition within the APC as healthy and necessary.
The Governor urged party members and supporters to remain peaceful, promising to respect the final decision once announced.
“This is only the screening stage. Next comes the conference committee, then the election proper,” he explained. “Whoever emerges must be supported, because it is not just about the aspirants it is about returning our party to power and serving the people.”
While awaiting the official outcome, Oyebanji dismissed speculations about being cleared, noting that the results are yet to be released.
The APC screening process, which has already generated intense interest, is seen as a crucial test for the ruling party ahead of the primaries and the governorship election proper.
