The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the formation of a 60-member National Campaign Council ahead of Saturday’s legislative bye-election in the Karim 1 State Constituency of Taraba State.
A statement jointly signed by the APC National Vice Chairman (North East), Comrade Mustapha Salihu, and the Deputy National Women Leader, Hajiya Zainab Ibrahim, confirmed that former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, will serve as Chairman of the council, while Professor Suwaiba Saidu Ahmad has been named Secretary.
The party also appointed Hajiya Imam Sulaoman-Ibrahim, Senators Sani Musa, Orji Uzor Kalu, Kaka Shehu, and Jim Kuta as co-chairmen.
Other prominent members include the Minister of Health, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Olajumoke Oduwole; Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar; former Governor Jolly Nyame; former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Senator Idiat Oluranti; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; and Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.
According to the party, the Council’s mandate is to mobilise support and ensure victory for the APC in the August 16 bye-election, which will be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
