The Catholic Archbishop of Kaduna, His Grace, Most Reverend, Dr. Matthew Man’Oso Ndagoso has expressed delight over the level of positive development in the Social Communications department of the church with the establishment of the new digital Multi Media Production Laboratory and Studio.
His Grace showed the excitement during the commissioning ceremony of the Multi Media Production Laboratory and Studio at Social Communications Department, Catholic Secretariat in Kaduna, North-West, Nigeria on Thursday, 13th December, 2018.
Bishop Ndagoso commended the initiative and ingenuity of the Director of Commissioners, Reverend Father Stephen Onyema who is only a few months in the office and advised other priests to emulate his vision and mission.
According to him, communication has become a necessity, looking at how fast the world is moving in digital information technology, saying Kaduna Archdiocese has to follow suit.
“It is quite true that today communication has become a global phenomenon which helps the world go round. The fact is that we can’t do without communication. It is part of our lives.
“The world can no longer continue to carry about papers when you can package everything you need into one system and can communicate easily with touch of the button” He said.
His Grace opined that Catholic Church taught the world communication through the early Apostles who move from Israel to Rome spreading the message of God easily.
He therefore stressed that communication is an important instrument in the dissemination of gospel worldwide and it has gone a long way to get the message everywhere.
“I am highly delighted with the introduction of the Multi Media center in Social Communications. It really shows we are moving forward in the communication world.
“We really need it to be able to reach out to our teeming congregations who are itching to hear the gospel. I therefore solicit for your support in this effort to build our social communications for the spread of the gospel far and wide.
“The Church from the beginning lays much emphasis on effective communication. I am ready to go to any lent to give maximum support to the directorate to enhance its goal.
“Thank to Fr Onyema and his team at the Crossnews Newspaper. The paper in itself has improved a great deal within a short time he took office” He stressed.
In his address, the Chairman of the occasion and the CEO of Khemsafe Computers,, Sir Dr. Dave Udodili Obiora reiterated the need for the Church to follow the new trend in communication which calls for adequate training and retraining of staff.
According to him, such would help in no small way to keep them at the same pace with the global standard and offered a scholarship for ten nominees from the office of Directorate of Social Communications.
Dr. Obiora described the new system in the Social Communications department as ‘One stop Shop’ in communication and therefore pledged to train ten staff in various areas.
“This Social Communications department is a blessing not only to Kaduna and but Nigeria at large with the communication system now in place here. This is to remind His Grace that this is the beginning. Digital is dynamic. Social Communications should expand further. People now prefer paperless.
“This department should plan ahead and introduce TV and radio to help the Church reach far and wide, not to only Catholics but all peoples at large. “I strongly advice that this department should improve and try to be up to date, especially when it will be commercial out within the Church” Dr Obiora said.
In his remark, the Director, Social Communications, Revered Father Stephen Onyema expressed his delight on the massive turnout of people to embrace the occasion as he showcased some of the new digital media equipment while called on the well-meaning Catholics to give their support to the project.
