In a sharp intelligence-led strike that exposed the fragile underbelly of terrorist supply networks in the North-East, Nigerian troops have intercepted a major logistics consignment allegedly bound for fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), dealing a decisive blow to the group’s operational lifeline.

Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, working hand-in-hand with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), swooped on two pick-up vans ferrying supplies suspected to be destined for ISWAP cells operating in Borno State.

The operation was triggered by credible human intelligence that flagged the movement of the consignment from Dapchi in Yobe State toward the Magumeri axis of Borno.

Acting on the tip-off, troops swiftly reconfigured their deployment, laid in wait along the identified corridor and intercepted the vehicles before they could reach their intended destination.

What followed was a revealing haul that underscored the scale and sophistication of terrorist logistics. Recovered items included two civilian vehicles, 31 spare tyres, 23 spare rims, two bicycles, 12 ignition key starters, three alternators and assorted vehicle parts components critical to sustaining mobility in remote terrain.

Also seized were large quantities of food and household items believed to support fighters and their families: bags of flour and charcoal, tubers of yam, garri, blankets, a mattress, clothing for adults and children, alongside mobile phones, a power bank and cash in different denominations.

The drivers transporting the items were taken into military custody along with the recovered materials. According to the military, they are undergoing interrogation to establish the full extent of their involvement and to generate further intelligence for ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

Military sources described the interception as a textbook example of intelligence-driven warfare and effective civil-military cooperation, stressing that choking off supply routes remains one of the most potent tools against insurgent groups.

“This operation reinforces our resolve to deny terrorists freedom of movement and dismantle their logistics chains,” the Joint Task Force said, adding that sustained collaboration with local security partners continues to yield tangible results on the battlefield.

As operations intensify across the North-East, the latest seizure signals a clear message: the net is tightening, and the arteries that feed terror are increasingly under siege.
