The Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru has canvassed for the support of all Nigerians, including their prayers to entrench peace and stability in the country.
The Defence Minister affirmed that with the complexities of the security challenges and other aspects of national development, one could only but ask for prayers to succeed.
Badaru made this known during an interview with journalists in Abuja on Thursday at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters shortly after meeting with the Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi who paid him a congratulatory visit with his delegation comprising of government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders and the business community.
The Minister who confirmed that though the tasks before Tinubu administration were enormous, promised that they are determined to surmount the challenges.
He therefore solicited for the support of Nigerians to continue to pray for the leaders and Nigeria to overcome the security challenges confronting the nation.
Badaru commended Jigsaw Governor for the honour for visiting him and presenting a congratulations gift and appealed to them to continue to pray and the nation to succeed.
“First of all I want to use this opportunity to thank His Excellency Namadi for bringing this large delegation to honour me” he said.
Earlier, Gov. Namadi informed that they visited the Minister to to congratulate him on his appointment and also to deal with insecurity in Nigeria.
The Jigawa Gov reminded the Minister that Nigerians have high expectations that he would priotise and deal with insecurity in the country, saying once he do that, it covers every aspect of the nation.
“We are lucky that we are peaceful in Jigawa, but that does not mean that we don’t need your assistance, we also need your assistance as you help other states,” he stated.
“We are also praying for him that he will also achieve the same success or more on his new assignment as the Minister of Defence.
“What I expect from him is success, because this is a man who is always achieving success in whatever he’s doing.
“Everybody is here, and we are all here to congratulate the Honourable Minister of Defence on his appointment by Mr President. And this is to show how good he was when he was the governor of Jigawa state.
“This is a man that’s very accommodating, a man with a very large heart and a man that always have his people at heart. People think that since he has been honoured by the President, then it is also important for us in Jigawa to come and say congratulations and to also pray for him. “We have known how he succeeded in Jigawa state as a governor.
“He is a successful businessman, also as a governor of Jigawa State, he has succeeded and kept a great record. It is the same thing we are expecting him to do at the national level. What we want him to do is first of all to deal with insecurity in Nigeria” Jigawa Gov ended.
