The Deputy President of the Senate (DSP), Senator Barau Jibrin, has personally addressed calls for him to be President Bola Tinubu’s running mate in 2027.
During a press conference on the forthcoming zonal public hearing of the Senate Committee on Constitution Review, Barau affirmed that he will do whatever the President wants me to do.
Sen. Barau emphasized that the President has been working hard to change the country’s trajectory and bring prosperity to the nation.
He stated that it’s premature to discuss the 2027 ticket and that the focus should be on supporting the President.
Barau said, “When the time comes, we’ll play politics. But this time is for governance. The President is my political father, and I will do whatever he asks me to do. I’m very loyal to him, 100%.”
DSP highlighted the President’s kindness and credited him with resolving issues in his home state of Kano.
He also thanked the President for supporting his election as Deputy Senate President. Barau reiterated his loyalty to the President, saying, “If the time comes and he says, ‘I want you to work with me,’ I would say, ‘Thank you, sir,’ and I will do it.”
The ranking Lawmaker informed that the Senate Committee on Constitution Review would hold zonal public hearings to deliberate on 59 bills and 31 proposals.
The hearings will take place in six geo-political zones, with the Deputy President of the Senate emphasizing the importance of gathering inputs from Nigerians.
