In a bold move to reposition Bauchi State as an agribusiness powerhouse, 350 young farmers have completed an intensive two-week agricultural value-chain training at the prestigious CSS Global Integrated Farms in Gora, Nasarawa State, a milestone hailed as a turning point for youth-driven food security and rural transformation.

The 2025 Innovative and Integrated Agricultural Value Chains Agribusiness Training equipped participants with hands-on skills in modern farming, including grain production, aquaculture, poultry, food processing, and agribusiness branding.

Representing Governor Bala Mohammed at the graduation ceremony, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Iliyas Aliyu-Gital, described the initiative as a cornerstone for Bauchi’s economic diversification agenda.

He praised CSS Global’s leadership under Professor John Kennedy Opara for delivering a transformative program that merges practical knowledge with entrepreneurial discipline.

>“This training is more than just empowerment, it’s an investment in the future of Bauchi State,” Governor Mohammed said. “We are preparing a new generation of agripreneurs who will see farming not as subsistence, but as a profitable enterprise capable of reducing poverty, raising incomes, and boosting productivity.”

Delivering a keynote address titled “The Power of Vision,” Professor Opara charged the youths to approach agriculture with purpose and innovation.

“Until a person understands what he was created to achieve, his time on earth remains unfulfilled,” Opara declared. “There’s no better way to shape tomorrow’s leaders than to empower them with knowledge today.”

The event featured awards for outstanding participants and recognitions for exemplary leadership with honors presented to both Governor Bala Mohammed and Professor Opara.

Several graduates also received monetary rewards and startup support to kick-start their agribusiness ventures.

Brimming with optimism, the newly trained youths pledged to deploy their new skills across Bauchi State’s communities to boost food production and rural livelihoods.

The graduation, observers say, underscores a growing national momentum to turn Nigeria’s youth bulge into a productive agricultural force one capable of transforming the nation’s food landscape from dependency to self-sufficiency.
