The new Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman has told the staff of the ministry to braced themselves as he work like a bricklayer, noting that President Bola Tinubu and the entire Nigeria expect them to deliver.

Mamman made this known in his address when he assumed office with the Minister of State, Yusuf Sununu and was received by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Andrew David Adejo, the Directors and other heads of education parastatals and agencies.

According to him, the expectation from the ministry is huge and they need to have measurable systems as Mr President is committed fully towards tackling the problems.

For me, I work like a bricklayer. Everyday, he goes to site, the foreman gives him blocks to lay.

”At the end of the day, he wants to see that the building come up and, within six months, the house is built. We have to have measurable systems.

”The expectation is huge and our president is committed fully towards tackling these problems; I enjoin every one to be part of this,” he said.

Mammam solicited support from Nigerians to bring about the desired change in the education sector, informing that if the education sector is fixed, every other thing would work perfectly in the country since the ministry is the foundation of all.

Earlier, the Minister of State, Sununu seeks for the cooperation and understanding of Nigerians, especially the ministry staff to improve the standard of education

Dr Yusuf Sununu, who thanked God for the appointment, said the time is now to surmount the challenges in the sector, affirming that working together as a formidable force would help to overcome the challenges.

In his remark, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, David Adejo while welcoming the Ministers, pledged the staff loyalty and commitment to the delivery of services.

He enjoined the ministers to help deliver the service the education sector would want to deliver to the citizenry.

Recall that the ministers were among the 45 ministers who earlier took their oaths of office during their inauguration at the conference centre of the state house in Abuja.

Mamman, before assumption of office, was the Vice Chancellor of Baze University who was born in 1954 and possesses a Bachelor Degree in Laws from Ahmadu Bello University in 1983.

He went to Nigerian Law School (NLS) in 1984, and earned his Masters from the University of Warwick and became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2015 and is recognised member of the Board of Benchers.

He also served as the Director-General of the Nigeria Law School from 2005 to 2013.
