The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has made history with the appointment of Air Vice Marshal OC Ubadike as its first-ever serving professor, marking a significant milestone in its research and development (R&D) endeavors.
The Governing Council of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) approved the appointment, recognizing Ubadike’s outstanding contributions to aerospace engineering.
Ubadike holds a PhD and Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Cranfield University, UK, and has led several cutting-edge research initiatives, including the development of the indigenous NAF Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).
This project showcases the Air Force’s growing technical capabilities and strategic independence.
The Governing Council also confirmed the appointment of Air Vice Marshal (retired) Paul Jemitola as a Professor of Aerospace Engineering, recognizing his expertise in aircraft design optimization.
Jemitola is currently the Acting Vice Chancellor of Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management, Lagos.
The appointments reflect the Chief of the Air Staff’s vision to prioritize technological advancement through education, capacity-building, and R&D.
The NAF is committed to cultivating homegrown expertise to meet evolving national security and aerospace challenges.
