…says his 35 years as retired Brigadier General speaks volume

Brigadier General Ohunyeye Olamide Felix retired, an aspirant for Ondo Governorship election on Tuesday obtained his Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms to contest the state elections under All Progressive Congress (APC).
Ohunyeye who briefed newsmen shortly after obtaining the form informed that there is no doubt about his intentions, it is very affirmative, and it’s a confirmation of the fact that the race to become the governor of Ondo has stated.
According to him, as a retired general in the army, his coming out to contest for Governorship election speaks volume, which places him at an advantage in terms of professional experience of not less than 35 years in active service.
Ohunyeye opined that his 35 years provides a leverage for him to outperform all the other contestants and by the grace of God, he did not see any obstacles, saying come April 20 General Felix retired will be announced as the APC ticket holder for Ondo state.
“My mission this morning is to pick up the nomination form and the expression of interest form for governorship election in all Ondo states, which is already scheduled.
“It is as simple, we are here to pick up the forms and the forms are ready with me, with this there is no doubt about our intentions, this is very affirmative, and it’s a confirmation of the fact that when race to become the governor of Ondo states this year.
“Let me thank you for the question, yes, I want to put it on record that all the contestants, at least ten in number so far, my brothers and i want to recognize them on their own rights for being eminently qualified to pick up a form to throw themselves into the race towards becoming the governor of the state.
“Nevertheless, I want to tell you that
I’m a retired general in the army, and that speaks volume, that possibly places me at an advantage in terms of professional experience of not less than 35 years in active service.
“And that provides a leverage for me to outperform all the other contestants and by the grace of God, the obstacles you see am not seen them, I believe come April 20 i General Felix retired will be announced as the APC ticket holder for Ondo state thank you.
“Let me start by responding to the question on what i am bringing to the table. To answer that question directly, l want you to know that 36 years of active military service is already a positive offering to the Nigerian public in general and Ondo states in particular.
“It is a big deal to serve the nation for 35 years, and that is a recommendable service that cannot go unnoticed.
“Having said that, in the last 20 years as a serving military officer, i have interacted with my community as much as allowed by military laws, ethics and procedures.
“And with this we have interacted, we have had series of interventions in terms of helping the indigent ones, in terms of assisting the farmers with one manner of seedlings or the other.
“In terms of organizing awareness and sensitization campaign to ensure that businesses of dropout children out of school are reduced, and several other things that time will not permit me to start rolling out.
“By and large to appreciate what i have done for my society, my community, i was specially welcome back through a reception by my community and this speaks volume too, that i have done well not only for the Federal Republic Nigeria, but also for the little community in Ondo states, in particular” he concluded.
