The Anambra State Ministry of Health and the Challenge Initiative have held a three-day workshop on “Costed Implementation Plan that will enable the adoption of result oriented family planning system for the next five years in the State.
The training which took place in Awka, and attracted representatives of line ministries, civil society organizations and women groups will lead to an improved health and well being for families.

Our correspondent reports that the training was organized to provide a platform for participants to brainstorm and strategize on a costed plan and budgeting for implementation of family planning programmes in the State.
The plan is a multiyear actionable road map which is expected to help the State achieve the goals of saving millions of lives and helping the government know the funding needs of family planning system.
Speaking to our correspondent, the State Family Planning Coordinator, Mrs. Stella Ekweozor said that the CIP is designed to run for five years and is geared towards improving maternal and child health and also reduce the rate of mother and child mortality.
Mrs. Ekweozor said that adequate sensitization has been carried out in family planning in Anambra State while wide range of family planning services are being made available to all health facilities across the State.

On his part, the Chairman, Anambra State Civil Society Network, Prince Chris Azor added that the health services will be funded by the government and be made free for everyone as the beneficiaries include men and women, and called on Ndi Anambra to adopt at least a family Planning method.
The Challenge Initiative State Programme Coordinator, Mr. Aneotah Egbe said the plan is also set to provide free family planning counseling, and the essence is to improve mother to child health, noting the importance of engaging religious leaders on the need for family planning.
In an interview, the program manager, Saving One Million lives programme, Dr. Obiageli Uchebo added that with the development of the plan, there will be an unhindered access to health services and advised individuals to key into this high quality and affordable initiative from the government.
