As the Catholic Church all over the world celebrates the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time, Christians have been called to reflect on the significance of Christ in their lives and be the light to the people around them.

Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia made the call at St. Paul’s Catholic Church Ikyaator – Vandeikya town in Vandeikya local government area of Benue State.

According to him, though Christians live in a dark world, full of sicknesses and pain, lies, hate, confusion and disappointment, yet Christ has called them to cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light and make it shine to all people.

Fr. Alia admonished Christians not to hesitate to introduce the light of Christ into the darkness of prejudice, wars, abuses, social injustices, hunger, poverty, greed and many other vices that characterize their respective homes and communities.

He tasked Christians on the need to change from their negative lifestyles and embrace Christ by living positive livestyles of love, humility and concern for the less fortunate people around them, adding that it is only when they begin to make radical change that they will begin to become part of the kingdom of God’s Light.
