Civilians Get Rare Access to NAF Facilities in 61st Anniversary Celebration

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is to hold a nationwide Open Day event for members of the public in commemoration of its 61st anniversary celebrations to visit its bases across the country.

The visit of NAF base by Nigeria civilians are aimed to foster stronger civil-military relations and offer Nigerians a unique opportunity to witness the inner workings of their Air Force firsthand.

According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Director of NAF Public Relations and Information in a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Friday informed that the visit with the Theme: “Come See Your Air Force,” would commence from May 1 to 15, 2025.

He disclosed that the participating NAF units in 18 locations, including Makurdi, Bauchi, Yenagoa, and Kaduna, will open their gates to welcome civilians from all walks of life on specific days to be announced by the different NAF units.

NAF Spokesperson affirmed that visitors will be assigned a guide for the tour of the facilities, close-up inspections of aircraft and platforms like photo galleries and mini-museums, historical exhibitions, interactive sessions with NAF personnel, documentary screenings, and souvenir distribution.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, highlighted the significance of the initiative.

He mentioned that the Open Day is a reflection of the commitment to transparency, national unity, and pride in service.

“We invite all Nigerians to come, see, and connect with their Air Force.”

“The Open Day events are part of the broader anniversary celebrations, which will take place from May 13 to 20, 2025.
