CMDAN Offers Free Medical Outreach to Sokoto Residents

The Catholic Diocese of Sokoto has collaborated with Christian Medical and Dental Association of Nigeria (CMDAN), Sokoto State Chapter and the Usmanu Danfodio University Teaching Hospital Chapter to offer a three day free medical outreach.

Flag-off of the outreach, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, His Lordship, Most Revered Dr. Matthew Hassan Kukah in his speech reminded that people die every day with various kind of ailment due to lack of fund to go to the hospital for treatment and enjoined all and sundry to take advantage of the Outreach, saying it is a privilege for the people of Sokoto.

The Bishop who informed that CMDAN provided the free medical outreach without minding religion affiliations, ethnic groups and tribe quoted Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Dr. Sa’ad Abubakar as saying during the recent commissioning of the Holy Family Clinic and Maternity that mosquitoes do not know who is a Muslim or a Christian as well as sickness and diseases do not know religion.

“Everyday people die in our country Nigeria of different ailment because many don’t have the fund to go to the hospital.

“These doctors have availed themselves to provide this free medical outreach to all of us not minding our religion, ethnic groups or tribe.

“Most of the Doctors were not indigene of the State, lamenting that they would have taken the initiative to their various states but they decided to host it in Sokoto.

“Sultan of Sokoto said during the commissioning of the Holy Family Clinic and Maternity, “Mosquitoes do not know a Muslim or a Christian” therefore, sickness does not know religion” He said.

Bishop Kukah therefore urged the medical doctors to continue with the good work, stressing that evangelism do not only belong to the religious but to every one through little contributions to the society or community find themselves.

Earlier in his remark, Chairman of CMDAN, Professor Dan Aliyu stated that the outreach was 1st of its kind in Sokoto State which is sponsored by Usmanu Danfodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) Chapel, comprises of Catholic Worshipers.

He opined that UDUTH do not have a building as a Chapel but the Chapel is in the hearts of the worshipers, believing that many will receive their healing through the outreach.
