In a decisive move that underscores his reformist agenda, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, on Thursday unveiled the newly completed Nigerian Army Properties Limited (NAPL) Corporate Headquarters in Asokoro, reinforcing his pledge to anchor Nigeria’s Army on strong administration, enhanced morale and holistic personnel development.
The commissioning attended by past Army chiefs, top commanders and retired senior officers served as a high-profile testament to the Army’s push for modernised welfare systems and improved institutional resilience.
Taking the podium, Gen. Shaibu declared NAPL a strategic driver of his command philosophy:
“Transforming the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptable, combat-ready and resilient force capable of fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency environment.”
He praised NAPL’s expanding role in sustaining welfare projects for personnel and their families, saying the new headquarters was not just a building but a signal of the organisation’s evolution and relevance in the Army’s long-term transformation plan.
The COAS delivered warm commendations to the Chairman of NAPL, Lt. Gen. Lamidi Adeosun (Rtd), former Chiefs of Army Staff, and the Group Managing Director for their “vision, commitment and unrelenting dedication” to building a stable welfare backbone for soldiers.
He extended special gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, noting that the Army’s ongoing reforms and achievements draw strength from the President’s consistent support.
Earlier, the Group Managing Director/CEO of NAPL, Brig. Gen. Isa Doma (Rtd), described the completion of the headquarters as a milestone that reflects the Army’s collective resolve to build a more efficient and welfare-focused institution.
He highlighted the significance of the modern facility in boosting operational capacity, strengthening staff morale and positioning NAPL for superior service delivery.
Doma lauded officers, soldiers, civil staff and partners whose commitment brought the project to completion.
The new headquarters stands as one of the most advanced administrative facilities within the military’s support ecosystem.
It boasts:
A guest house
Dedicated worship centre
Modern car park
Enhanced office spaces
Conference room
Mini auditorium
High-speed internet infrastructure
A 500 KVA transformer
The facility, according to officials, is designed to serve as the engine room for Army property management and welfare interventions.
The commissioning attracted an elite assemblage of military leadership, including former Chiefs of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd) and Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya (Rtd), senior principal staff officers from Army Headquarters, and a host of serving and retired officers.
Their presence underscored the significance of the new headquarters and its alignment with the Army’s long-term vision.
