COAS’s Benue Visit: A Step Towards Sustainable Peace

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in Benue State and other parts of the country.

He made the call during an operational visit to Benue State on June 3, 2025 which was made available to newsmen in a press statement by Captain ABDULLAHI LAWAL OSABO, the Acting Assistant Director

COAS received a comprehensive briefing on the security situation and met with the Executive Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.

He expressed condolences to the Governor and the people of Benue over recent incidents that resulted in loss of lives and property.

COAS assured the Governor of the Nigerian Army’s firm resolve to safeguard lives and property, emphasizing the need for sustained collaboration among security stakeholders to achieve lasting peace.

In his address, the Governor appreciated the COAS’s visit and commended the Nigerian Army’s efforts in deploying troops to flashpoints.

He urged the military to sustain and intensify operations until all threats to peace and security are neutralized.

The visit demonstrates the Nigerian Army’s proactive approach to security management and its dedication to protecting citizens’ lives and property.

The Army remains committed to supporting civil authorities in ensuring peace and stability across the country.
