Chairman and CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission in Abuja, Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa has stressed the need to engage more women in public and private sectors through mentoring, capacity building, Gender equity, collaborations and conferences.
Hon Abike Dabiri made the demand when a delegation of Women in Business, Management and Public Service (WIMBIZ) paid a visit to the Commission in Abuja on Wednesday, led by its Executive Director, Hajiya Hansatu Adegbite.
She expressed her strong belief in Women supporting each other, noting that there are too many qualified women across all sectors fit for leaderships and by mentoring other Women, we are helping ourselves.
Hon Abike Dabiri urged women to have confidence in themselves and continue to be agents of change not because they are women but because they are capable.
“When men are saying fire for fire, the women are saying water for fire” she said.
Earlier in her remark, the Executive Director WIMBIZ, Mrs Hansatu Adegbite stressed that the Association is keenly interested in ensuring that women in public and private sectors are adequately cared for, empowered, their skills and competences escalated.
She added that the Association is taking statistics of both in the Private and Public Sectors.
The conversation also centred on the need for more women to get involved in politics and other sectors.
The Women in Business, Management and Public Service(WIMBIZ) was established about Twenty years ago to Carter, promote and encourage the growth and development of Women in Private and Public Life.
