A sweeping internal shake-up has begun at the Federal Road Safety Corps as Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed delivered a blunt, no-nonsense charge to top management staff ahead of their nationwide deployment to Field Commands.
The message from Headquarters was sharp and unmistakable: the era of complacency is over.
At a high-impact strategic briefing, the Corps Marshal directed members of the Management Staff to take personal responsibility for resetting standards across Commands, insisting that discipline, professionalism and accountability must no longer be negotiable ideals but visible operational realities.
“You must lead from the front,” he charged, according to sources at the session, stressing that every Command must become a model of operational excellence, ethical enforcement and absolute respect for members of the public.
In a firm and unequivocal tone, the Corps Marshal underscored that institutional integrity remains the Corps’ most powerful currency and any conduct that erodes public trust will not be tolerated.
The nationwide deployment of the Management Team, insiders say, is designed to recalibrate standards, reinforce command responsibility and ensure that the directives of Headquarters are not diluted in transmission.
He implored senior officers to communicate the mood and mandate of Headquarters with clarity, authority and conviction.
“The message must be clear. It must be firm. It must be consistent,” he stressed, warning that ambiguity in enforcement culture would no longer be acceptable.
The strategic engagement is expected to focus on strengthening supervisory accountability, standardising enforcement procedures and embedding a culture of professionalism across all formations.
Observers say the move signals a decisive internal reset one aimed at tightening operational discipline while reinforcing citizen-centred service delivery nationwide.
For the Corps Marshal, the objective is clear: every Field Command must reflect the core values of respect, integrity and service excellence.
With the Management Staff now set to fan out across the country, the signal from Abuja is unmistakable standards will rise, oversight will deepen and accountability will be enforced.
The road to reform, it appears, has officially begun.
