Ndiagu Alike Council of Elders has commended the Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru for his movement to ensure that there’s peace and tranquility in all parts of Ebonyi State.
The elders made the commendation on Monday during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Border Peace and Conflict Resolution, Hon. Dr. Donatus Chukwuma Ilang in Abakaliki.
Rev. Emmanuel Oketa who is the Chairman of the Ndiagu Alike Council of Elders and the leader of the group said that their visit was to congratulate him on his appointment and also to appreciate Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru for finding him worthy to be part of his Government
The elders pointed out that the appointment is a show of honor and love to not only him but to the people of Ndiagu Alike as a whole.
According to Rev. Oketa, His Excellency must have seen good qualities that triggered him to pick you and place you in this all-important office for conflict resolution, I pray that the Lord God Almighty will guide you not to disappoint us.
Rev. Oketa, further applauded the governor for the movement to ensure that there’s a peaceful coexistence in all the parts of the state, describing it as a right step in the right direction.
Responding, the commissioner thanked the people for the visit and said that it is a mark of honor to him and his family.
He noted that the Ndiagu Alike Council of Elders is an integrated community made up of four communities such as Ndufu, Alike, Noyo, and Enyibichiri in the Ikwo Local Government Area.
Commissioner Ilang called on the elders to also extend such a show of honor and love to the governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru by supporting and staying solidly behind him all the time.
Ilang also thanked them for the role they played during the Ikwo and Izzi crisis that helped in bringing permanent peace.
Hon. Commissioner declared that Hon. Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru is committed to ensuring that peace reigns in all nooks and crannies of the State as he has constituted and inaugurated committees that will handle the issues in areas like Effium and Ezza-Effium in Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Abaomege and Ishinkwo in Onicha Local Government Area and Amana Community in Ezza South and Ohankwu Village in Ikwo Local Government Areas where there are crisis and proffer lasting solution for permanent peace in the areas.
He also said that His Excellency has recently fulfilled the promise made by the state government to the people of Ishielu Local Government Area during the Ezza – Ezillo crisis by building Housing Estates in the two designated areas of Izo and Ameze to cushion the effect of the crisis and establish permanent peace in the area.

The Commissioner also emphasized that His Excellency is prepared to develop the state to an enviable height and called on Ebonyians to support him by ensuring that there is peace in all parts of the State, stressing development will thrive only where there is peace and unity.
